We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kevin M. Jablonka, a junior research group leader in the Schubert Group, has received the “Best Research Environment 2024” award for his leadership of the research group LAMA Lab: Laboratory for AI in Materials Science at the University of Jena.

The award, presented for the first time by Die Junge Akademie and the Volkswagen Foundation, honors research teams that exemplify excellent working conditions, transparent communication, and supportive structures. Out of a broad pool of applicants across disciplines, ten teams were selected and celebrated at an official ceremony in Berlin on 7 June 2024.

Dr. Jablonka’s group impressed the selection committee with its clearly defined group identity, open communication pathways, and a research culture that values mutual support and learning from mistakes. The LAMA Lab is funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation, and this recognition highlights its modern and inclusive approach to scientific collaboration.
