As part of the Laboratory of Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry , the professorship of Prof. Dr. Ulrich S. Schubert currently has about 100 members from 10 different countries. Founder and Chairman of the Cultural and Social Foundation International Young Orchestra Academy (Internationale Junge Orchesterakademie, IJOA): Founder and Chairman of the Cultural and Social Foundation International Young Orchestra Academy: annually about 120 musicians from 35 nations. Organisation of 700 charity concerts in Bavaria, Saxony, Thuringia, North Rhine-Westphalia and the Slovak Republic (1995-2019; amount donated to children suffering from cancer: EUR 1.5 million), 24 CD recordings (11 with BR Klassik), patronage among others by the Minister President Michael Kretschmer and Dr. Markus Söder, Federal President Horst Köhler and EU Commission President José Manuel Barroso.

Since May 2019 member of Jena City Council (non-party and non-attached).
