The program committee of the new DFG Priority Programme SPP 2248 "Polymer-based Batteries" - consisting of Prof. Dr. Birgit Esser, Prof. Dr. Xinliang Feng, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schuhmann, Prof. Dr. Patrick Théato and Prof. Dr. Ulrich S. Schubert - presents the latest trends and developments in thin and flexible polymer-based batteries in a short topical review article.

These special energy storage systems use polymers as active material and are therefore easy to process - among other things, they can also be printed. In addition they are light and flexible. Another special feature is that these new types of batteries can also be charged within a very short time. This technology is currently about to be commercially launched.
